Sport for all is the motto of the Triathlon Audencia – La Baule.
While seven disabled athletes took part in this event in 2005, by 2017 they were more than sixty. Today, the Triathlon Audencia – La Baule is the 1st triathlon in France in terms of disabled athletes.
Every year, the investment of the organizing team allows real progress. A working group made up of local authorities, the Handisport Committee of the 44th Department and members of Audencia meets to continuously improve the quality of the welcome for disabled athletes.
During the weekend, a tent is reserved for them, they benefit from easy access to the embankment and specific equipment is made available to them.
Trimmersion
The Trimmersion project, created in 2015, aims to encourage disabled children to practice sports. Throughout the year, 6 students from the association accompany children to introduce them to Triathlon, so that they can participate in the Tri-Avenir race alongside able-bodied children. During the weekend, the association and the student volunteers offer activities such as viewing the race in virtual reality, privileged access to the embankment, a meeting with handicapped people and high level triathletes.
